Church Defaced

Sadly, today St. Benedict was defaced by spray paint. Specifically, the words “LAND BACK” were painted on the doors along with hand prints. We have a crew coming to clean it up shortly. We believe the message is tied to very sad reality faced by our Native American brothers and sisters who were placed in residential homes across North America.

The Archdiocese of Seattle is reviewing our own local history and relationship overtime with the various tribes across the region. Additionally, they are meeting with the Native American Advisory Council to discuss how we can best support our Native American brothers and sisters.

I ask that you all pray for them and for the relief of the hardships that they and their ancestors faced. We ask the Holy Spirit to give them grace and healing as we find a path towards reconciliation. --Fr. Dean Mbuzi
